Tea Mountains (2020)

During the lockdown due to the Covid 19, when travelling was everywhere dangerous, problematic and often forbidden, one of the most instinctive escape routes was to think of new places to visit as soon as possible. I found my saving landscapes at the supermarket, among the numerous and varied tea bags. These objects are very popular, easily available and cheap, but in their own way precious because of their soft cotton sachet, exotic plant content and intense fragrances (it is enough to look at a single tea bag and we already feel far away). The images of these eleven possible future horizons, which remind me of Africa, although I’ve never been there, were for me of great comfort, just like a cup of tea, herbal tea or camomile at the end of the day.

The idea of the series was born during an online art experience by Ecumene.

Tea Mountains (2020)

Durante il lockdown dovuto al coronavirus, quando spostarsi era ovunque pericoloso, problematico e spesso proibito, una delle più istintive vie di fuga era pensare a nuovi posti da visitare appena sarebbe stato possibile. I miei paesaggi salvifici li ho trovati al supermercato, tra le numerose e varie bustine di infusi. Si tratta di oggetti molto diffusi, facilmente reperibili e poco costosi, ma a loro modo preziosi, per via del morbido sacchettino in cotone, dell’esotico contenuto vegetale e del profumo inebriante (è sufficiente guardare una sola bustina e ci sentiamo già lontani). Le immagini di questi undici possibili orizzonti futuri, che mi ricordano l’Africa sebbene non ci sia mai stata, sono stati per me di grande conforto, così come a fine giornata una tazza di tè, tisana o camomilla.

L’idea della serie è nata durante un’esperienza d’arte online di Ecumene.
